Hello, I am currently studying my a levels in the hope of going onto university to become a midwife. However, as part of my studies I must write a 5000 word essay comparing midwifery now to that of midwifery in Victorian England.

Could any of you help by answering a few questions as I need to gather primary evidence to get the highest grades and getting a midwife to answer in real life is proving difficult.

To the mums out there:
What pain relief was given to you with your birth?
How would you describe your experience?
How helpful was the midwife and what role did she play in your pregnancy?
How would you feel giving birth in Victorian England?

And to the midwives/student midwives:

What does it take to become a midwife, both qualification and personality wise?
Why did you want to be a midwife?
Do you think it is easier now to become a midwife than 100 years ago, and why?
What precautions are procedures are in place to ensure safety and hygiene?
How and why do you think that midwifery and medicine in pregnancy has changed in the past 100 years?

Any replies appreciated with any answers.
Many thanks, Kirstie! x
