Muscle twinges

Muscle twinges

I often feel muscle twinges in my stomach especially when moving from sitting to standing position but today I felt quite a sharp pulling pain right across my lower 'bump' that took a couple of minutes to ease - is this normal and if so what is causing it or should I get checked out?

As long as you are not bleeding and the pain goes away it is likely that this pain is a ‘normal’ part of pregnancy. As pregnancy goes on the ligaments attaching your uterus to the abdomen stretch, this can be quite uncomfortable. You will also start to have Braxton Hicks contractions; these are described as painless, but often are not. These contractions are helping your uterus to prepare for labour.

If you are worried you should see your midwife, GP or Obstetrician.
