Weaning from breastfeeding

Weaning from breastfeeding

Now that I am weaning my baby, when should I breastfeed? I have read that you should breastfeed in the morning and at bedtime but should you also continue breastfeeding during the day? Also, I was advised to give water with each solid meal so are the breastfeeds dropped during the day or interspersed between the solid feeds? For your info., I am feeding solids (pureed fruit and veg) three times a day. Any help much appreciated - this weaning is very complicated!

Thank you for your question. It is advisable to breast feed first before offering solid foods until your baby is six months old. Gradually increase the amounts of solids. Once on solids babies usually regulate the amount of breast milk needed. You can also give drinks of water while giving solids if you feel it is necessary.
